Adult Pomsky: how big does a Pomsky get?

Inhoudsopgave

You’re probably looking for a Pomsky because you’ve fallen in love with one. Or because you want a Husky the size of a Pomeranian. Unfortunately, I have to bring you back to reality.

A Pomsky measures about 30–45 cm and weighs between 10 and 15 kg. However, it’s very difficult to establish a standard because this breed is still in its early stages. It is generally a crossbreed, and crossbreeds can show size differences among them.

So, a Pomsky is much larger than a Pomeranian, but noticeably smaller than a Husky.

Want to know more about their size? We explain it in detail below.

How big does a Pomsky get?

Since it is still a new breed, there will be large variations between individuals, both in size and in color. We and other breeders still need to select to establish a breed standard. As a result, puppies can still be born with a different color than expected.

Even though we can’t say with 100% certainty what size it will reach, based on experience we can still provide a numerical estimate.

An F1 Pomsky averages between 30 and 45 cm. An F2 is more likely to remain smaller : F2 Pomskies generally measure between 25 and 45 cm.

Below is an example of one of our puppies. On the right he is 5 months old, on the left an adult.

Difference between F1 and F2 Pomskies

An F1 generation is a pure cross between a female Husky and a male Pomeranian.

An F2 generation has an F1 Pomsky as both father and mother.

Puppies do not all have exactly the same average size; they may resemble the father or the mother more. Therefore, it is sometimes difficult to make an accurate estimate.

But in general, they can be expected to reach between 30 and 45 cm in height. About 10% of the F2 generation may remain a little smaller.

A Pomsky will probably weigh between 7 and 15 kg, depending on its size.

Size of a Siberian Husky

A Husky can already be classified among the large breeds. With a height between 50 and 60 cm, it is a bit larger than a Pomsky.

A male Husky weighs between 20 and 27 kg, while a female is slightly lighter at 16 to 23 kg.

Size of a Pomeranian

A Pomeranian or dwarf spitz is the smallest type of spitz and measures between 18 and 23 cm, but it is possible to have a Pomeranian up to 25 cm in height.

A Pomeranian can weigh between 2 and 6 kg.
