Care
They need to be washed and trimmed regularly: trimming every six weeks and bathing 3-4 times a year. Check the ears often for infections. Clean them regularly and trim the hairs in the ear canal.
The traditional coat cuts were originally designed to reduce the weight of the coat during swimming and to protect the vital organs from the cold. However, many pet owners now prefer a uniform trim (where the coat is trimmed evenly all over).
It is essential to brush the teeth regularly. Poodles shed little to none, making them extremely suitable for people with allergies.

Origin
Although poodles have been known throughout Western Europe for at least 400 years, their origin is controversial. Whether they were developed in France, Germany, or Denmark is uncertain. Despite claims from several other countries, France is now officially recognized as the country of origin. The breed holds a special place in the hearts of the French.
It has been established that Poodles descend from a now nearly extinct French water dog, the Barbet, and possibly the Hungarian water dog. The name ‘Poodle’ likely originates from the German word “Pudel,” which means: one who plays in water. They were originally used as hunting dogs. They were initially employed in Germany and France as retrievers of waterfowl. Hunters trimmed the thick coat of the dog to make swimming easier. They left hair on the leg joints to protect them against extreme cold and sharp reeds.
The French utilized the breed’s high intelligence, trainability, and innate showmanship to turn the Poodle into a circus performer. Its great popularity in France led to the common name “French Poodle.” In France, however, it is called “Caniche” or “Chien Canard.”

Poodles were also used to search for truffles that grow underground or in wood. Poodles were depicted in 15th-century paintings. They became royal favorites, particularly in the 18th century.
Toy and miniature varieties of the Poodle were bred down from the larger dogs, which we today call Standard Poodles. The three sizes are considered one breed and are judged by the same standard.
Today, the Poodle is primarily a companion and show dog, although it can learn almost anything.
